Weird Girl and What's His Name
by Meagan Brothers
Disclaimer : This is a review coming from a person who has never watched The X-files.
Sooo yeah.. 2.5 rounded down to 2 stars.
Plotline:
Girl and boy are best friends. Unsure feelings in the air. Fallout between the two. Separate storyline for each of them for sometime. Realization of what went wrong. Apologies. Acceptance.
Add to it, lots of fangirling about a certain TV show which sometimes has no meaning to the plot (atleast for a reader who doesn't know anything about the show!)
Obviously I found it to be slow & uninteresting cause I didn't understand the references that they kept coming back to about the show.
I couldn't connect with the characters although there were times when they did have a few wise words to say but all in all, it was just a disappointing teenage drama read for me.
I hate the fact that the pattern of YA novels these days are so generic. It feels like I'm reading the same plot with a few tweaks here & there *rolls eye*
I really used to love YA but I think I need to take a break from this genre for a while.
