Overall, this is a pretty good trilogy. Does it have its flaws? Yes. Can it drag out? Yes. But there are a lot of good things about the series. There are plenty of badass female characters who do what’s gotta be done. Many characters are forced to face their trauma and the terrible things they’ve done and it’s done in a way that help readers understand that everyone is deeply flawed and everyone is capable of good things and bad things. People are shaped by those around them and their experiences but ultimately they have a choice in what they do. Overall, a decent read and the ending was great.

Update: it’s been about a year since I’ve read this book and I literally don’t remember anything about it. I rated it fairly high (4 stars) so it must have been fine in the short term but overall unmemorable. Most books I enjoy, I can remember the basic plot years later. This is not one of them so I am changing the rating.
