Brother by David Chariandy

5.0

How does one deal with the sudden and violent death of a loved one. A mother's grief, a brother's ineffective anger. Anger at the foolish circumstances which led to his older brother's death. A powerful short story set in Scarborough ON, tells the all too familiar and sad story of young Black boys. Some who are trying to stay on the straight and narrow and the others who have simply given up and turned to crime.
Powerful novel and a highly recommended read.
