carlitos95 's review for:
A Storm Of Swords
by George R.R. Martin
In 2024, I have chosen bangers.
Ahem... Call the bangers.
George can build a house of cards better than any writer I've read. And he can also burn it down better than anyone.
My long-standing frustration at it all being incomplete was more present with this one, (which also made it feel a smidge too long in the first 200 pages) but that was mainly because of just how good it is. But I knew that was obviously the biggest obstacle to me never finishing it years ago in the first place.
So its sheer quality is a bit of a (temporary?) double edged sword.
Ahem, A Storm of Double Edged Swords?
Huehuehue.
We don't read in a vacuum and it's hard to ignore the bittersweet feeling of incompleteness.
It is an odd thing for a part of you to wish that a book wasn't this good...
