Deal With the Devil by Lark Taylor
5.0

Fire and Water=Steam

I knew I would love ‘Deal with the Devil.’ The first two books in The Reckless Damned series were amazing, and I had confidence in Lark Taylor’s ability to take me on another fantastic, romantic journey. It made me a little sad when I first realized that Dagon and Dimitri’s story would not be the third novel, but I trusted Taylor.

I’ll admit that I didn’t know what to expect from Mori’s love story. His story about his lost human love was phenomenally heartbreaking and emotional, but I wasn’t sure who would give him the happily-ever-after he deserved. I never would’ve predicted River, but that’s what makes Taylor a fantastic writer. River took Mori’s grumpiness and used it as a weapon against him.

The struggles of Moris and River’s story fit them so well, and it was the best kind of satisfying watching them figure things out. The push and pull between them was wrenching and fun as heck in turns. Taylor made the swings between humor and heartbreak feel natural and organic to the story. Mori and River play amazing games throughout the book, riling each other up. This book is hot and dirty and addictive from start to finish.

“Deal with the Devil” also took the setup for the overarching plot to the next level. I am pumped. I was already loving the series, but I might love this one even more than I loved the first two. Lark Taylor is on fire (and so are her books).
