She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World by Chelsea Clinton

She persisted tells the story of 13 women who shaped their own careers and the world in persisting in following their dreams even when everyone around them told them they weren't capable or would never be able to achieve anything as women. I'm all about girl power so I absolutely love the idea of showing girls in my future classroom what it means to stand up to those who are constantly working against you. I think that this could also be a lesson for the boys too, there are always stories of men achieving their dreams against oppression so they have plenty of role models to look up to while listening to this book and gaining an appreciation for the abilities of their female peers.
