I understood the overarching themes and enjoyed the general prose but truly feel that the author wrote this in a way to flex a sort of literary superiority complex rather than demonstrate pleasant and accessible literature which is fine if you are reading an encyclopedia or an academic journal but as someone who reads fiction for pleasure it turned me off.
