The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba
by Chanel Cleeton
These three woman, Grace, Evangelina, and Marina, lived such different lives. To see how their lives that are so completely different intertwine so much that they played such significant rolls in each others lives was exciting to read. Chanel does a great job with that. Not only does she knows how to give us different POVs in a storyline that are hold our attention, she also knows how to make them all so interesting that you fall in love with all the characters. You want to know what is happening with the other characters, but you are also happy to get back to another’s path and find out what happened to them. It all is just marvelous.
All is fair in love and war, right? These women were incredibly brave. Wether it was to break out of social norms to make their own path in life, or to stand up for something they believed in with their whole heart. They knew what they wanted in life and did what was necessary to get themselves there. Yes bad things happened. Being imprisoned, whether it was justified or not, and still maintaining the moxie to to keep fighting as these women did is inspiring.
The one slight downfall was Grace. Yay for her wanting to be independent. She wanted something besides being a wife just because that was all women were supposed to do in that time period. Unfortunately, she had to live that dream according to men in power. Baby steps I guess.
Do you like your multiple POVs to be of those in a relationship or are you okay with the different POVs to be platonic characters in the story?
