Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book, but it's purely because of the characters. Isabel and Cole were easily the favorites in this book, both refreshing new narratives that alleviated me of the Sam and Grace romance. But the problem with these books is that, when it's stripped down, there really isn't any kind of a plot. If you take away all the chapters of awkward teen sexual tension and the googly eyes everyone gives each other, the main plot is purely that Grace feels sick, but no one can figure out why, but it's probably related to wolves, but no one really pays attention to it, and then Sam goes to a recording studio, and Isabel and Cole fight a lot, and then Grace gets SUPER SICK, and there's a giant action scene, the end. I mean, the entire premise of a 360-page book is that Grace feels sick for the duration of it. If Cole hadn't been introduced, and if Isabel hadn't become more of a prevalent character, I don't know that I would have been able to stomach it. I do plan on finishing out the third book, but I'm worried it'll fall in the same vein as the first two have.
