The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow

5.0

As far as I am concerned this book is the sequel to Pride and Prejudice. Written a a style so similar to Jane Austen and yet so accessible to modern day that I sunk into it and felt as though I was discovering P&P again for the first time.
I loved Mary. Her extreme low self-esteem and her awareness of her own perceived failings was just heart-breaking and several times I found myself close to tears over her situation.
Her gradual comfort with herself, despite those initial knocks and the growth of her character from beginning to end was a delight to read.
If you like Pride and Prejudice or any of Jane Austen's works I would highly recommend that you try The Other Bennet Sister. It is now officially canon in my head.
