What The Stars Didn't Show Us by Margherita Scialla

3.5

Life isn’t easy when your brother is considered better than you. However, Hyunsuk’s life starts to change when a new student arrives at his school. Can Hyunsuk break out of his twin’s shadow and find happiness?

This is such a cute book that I really enjoyed, which was fast paced and short.

I wish that Jane and Eunkyung’s development of their romance was a bit longer so we could have seen them get to know each other better and maybe get into a relationship - it seemed rushed at the end. It mentions at the end that they went on a date but I would have loved to see how that went. Also why did Eunkyung suddenly have a change of heart and turn on Hyunwoo when before she was so scared of him and the information he had on her. It made no sense.

I felt like sending Hyunwoo out of the story seemed abrupt and a bit of a dramatic move coming from his father. Since it happened at the end, it felt like it was pointless to include it. I also don’t understand why everybody is so scared of him? And I really don’t get the rivalry between him and Hyunsuk.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the POVs because of how they were done. You would hear the thoughts of multiple characters within one chapter which I found a bit hard to follow. I think it would have been better if there was alternating chapters with the POVs instead.

On the whole, this was a really lovely story about love blossoming between two complete opposites who bring out the best in each other.
