This book was originally published in 1939, and I could definitely tell. It had major War-of-the-Worlds vibes and I loved it! It felt like a book that becomes the foundation of a genre. The dystopian vibes were so ominous and spooky, and the fact that the white people were the losers in the end was so satisfying and honestly way ahead of its time! I was definitely a fan of this story.
