Clockwork Princess
by Cassandra Clare
Wow. Just wow. I don't even know what to say. I just sat on bed for 10 minutes holding this beautiful creation in my hands, staring at it, without a single thought in my head. It was the best! It didn't leave me with any questions and confusions. Perfect!
First of all, I don't think I've ever cried over a book so much in my entire life (which is saying a lot, since I cry over almost every book I read). I went through an entire box of tissues! It wasn't so much the moments with Tessa and Will or Jem, but the moments with Jem and Will that got me the most. I loved them both equally throughout the series, so this was absolutely heartbreaking! But also bitter-sweet. There were many times that I couldn't stop sobbing long enough to finish a sentence. And the epilogue, while Tessa was telling her story, I was laughing so hard even as I tried (and failed) to hold back yet more tears! I'm so attached to the characters, it's ridiculous!
I loved the storyline so much! Even though I had seen spoilers concerning Jem, I was still o surprised when it happened! Almost everything was so unexpected to me. All the theories that I had before reading it were completely wrong, and I love it when that happens! Most of the time, I couldn't guess what was going to happen next. It was so well paced and I feel like not a page was wasted; every word was building up to one thing and they were written so wonderfully!
Cassandra Clare is such a genius, I cannot even with her! I have no idea how she weaved such an intricate family tree, spanning almost 200 years. Everyone is connected, but there's no overlapping. It's amazing, and she's so incredibly wonderful! Even if someone doesn't like the books, they would have to give her credit after looking at the family tree! I love all the references to The Mortal Instruments in this, and how everything ties to that. And what Jem said on Blackfriars Bridge, about having another story to tell, I love that so much! The next time I read TMI, I'll probably read it as though Jem is telling it.
I really don't think there's anything I disliked about CP2. It may actually be my favourite book ever. I have so much respect and admiration for Cassie, and I can't wait to read TDA and CoHF! Clockwork Princess was a perfect conclusion to the Infernal Devices; I couldn't have asked for anything better! It far surpassed my expectations (which were already very high to begin with) and was well worth the wait!
