In this book we follow a Nakhuda and her crew as they embark on a hunt chasing a treasure that can possibly destroy everyone.

Amina was blackmailed into journeying across dangerous Islands and unforgiving seas, tasked with saving the daughter of an old friend in exchange for enough money to help her provide for her family and finally-truly, retire.
Is this mythical treasure true?

Are legends made of magic or maybe just of a woman who can never drown or get lost in a foreign sea? A woman who can chase adventure as well as a shadow can chase light? A woman who can read the stars? A Nakhuda leading a ship of companions, partners, family?A woman. A survivor. A mother. A friend. A lover. The legendary Nakhuda.

The adventures of Amina Al Sirafi is exactly what I look for in a book that promises pirates, legends, ships, sea and heroines.

Dalilawas my favourite character. I instantly fell in love with her, and I loved the way she could watch a person choke on her poison but never let her friends unprotected or feel unloved.

Tinbu is such a sweetheart and I consider him and Payasam a package deal-and that's how it should be. I found very endearing how much he loves and protects Amina.

Majed is the dad in the friend group, and not because he has kids. He's the earnest, older brother every story needs.

Amina is the kind of protagonist I would follow everywhere. Or should I say the kind of Nakhuda I would follow on every ship? Every island? Every quest.
Strong. Beautiful. Smart. Loving. Courageous and utterly real.

I will say the book started out very strong and it maintained that but I felt like the 50 or so pages before the end where
she got stuck with her husband on the island and they started talking more sincerely, more purposefully I think, it felt like a cold bucket of water since the action kind of stopped abruptly

Other than that, I loved it. I want to read more books with middle aged cast and old friends! Makes a great recipe for a prequel!(Hehehe)
