I’ve tried reading a book by this author in the past and I just couldn’t get into it. That was not the case with this one. I was hooked from the beginning. It very well could be the mood I’m in too but regardless it’s soooo good. There is something about a man who doesn’t like the girl at first  but will always protect her that just has me swooning 🤣 do I need therapy? Probably. The whole small town feel of this book and alllll the family drama even held my attention. I felt like I was watching a movie while reading this book and that’s what I want. What got me in my feels is when Hayes mom came to talk to Everly and said they would help her with anything she needed 😭 I loved that his mom could seperate the crime her dad committed from who she is. At the end of the day she is the reason her daughter was found in the first place. The way Hayes family pulled together for Everly and helped her in any way they could warmed my heart. At times this book felt a little slow but it always picked back up. There are a couple steamy scenes but they are done very tastefully. I wouldn’t necessarily say this book is a romance. Sure they fall in love but it’s more about Everly starting her life over and showing how strong she really is even though her family doesn’t think so. I’ll definitely be continuing this series at some point when I’m in the mood for a suspenseful read.
