The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde
4.0

Fun. Humorous. Whimsical.

Jennifer Strange (she'll be 16 in a month or so) is an indentured servant/foundling/manager of an employment agency for magicians in a world where magic is subject to bureaucratic rules and magical power is ebbing. Something is afoot, though, as magical surges occur and a prophecy about the death of the world's last dragon becomes widely known.

This book is full of quirky and charming characters, including an oddly endearing and seemingly horrific looking Quark Beast who is sort of like a pet dog. The feel is much like Fforde's Thursday Next series, with large corporations calling the shots and clever names for media, like the "Daily Eyestrain."

I can easily see this becoming a series.
