this was such a fun read!!

I went into it assuming it was rompish historical fiction, so imagine my surprise at the howl-esque flying houses and seemingly endless amounts of artillery! while the book was maybe 80-100 pages too long imo, the author's writing is addicting (truly, no one writes "historical" banter quite like Ms. Holton), the pacing was lovely, and all of the characters—for all their murderous intentions and ridiculous sense of propriety—were appropriately lovable and deplorable. I cannot wait to read on in the series! My only regret is that the series doesn't continue to follow Cecilia and Ned... Hopefully they'll make more appearances!
