A short mystery that lets us know, several times, how sad and compassionate Inspector Gamache is, especially when confronted with dead bodies. As he’s a homicide detective, he is confronted by dead bodies with regularity but his sadness never dissipates.
Gamache is always a sympathetic character and I enjoy reading about him and his clever ways of solving murders. This was a somewhat simpler story than I was expecting but that didn’t diminish my appreciation for it. Any Gamache is pretty much a good Gamache.
