Prince of the Ancients by Gemma L. Preston
5.0
An exciting and well-written story
-I would like to thank the author for the eARC-
Dracho, heir to the exiled dragon Kingdom, ventured into the mortal realm to find what is causing the attacks that have plagued the land and threaten his kingdom. But for that, he will have to hide his true nature and stay in human form, fighting with his inner dragon constantly. There, he meets a group of humans, among which Eli, a young woman, will make him question everything he's been taught about mortals and their ways. They both have secrets to hide and tension swiftly rises.
I rarely find fantasy books that are only told from the male character's persepective and this one was really interesting! I very much liked Dracho, even if he was a bit annoying at times-mostly his dragon I'll admit. He's very proud, but eager to help end to do the right thing. I liked how he lets the others teach him things when necessary and how he protects the ones he loves. The story was very well-written with action, tension, secrets and romance. I enjoyed reading it very much, even if sometimes, the pace was a bit slow. I liked the world as well, which was interesting to discover and the magic was perfect as well. As for the characters, Eli has my heart and always will. She's strong-willed and passionate, which I really liked. The romance was very cute and hot at the same time and I quite liked the slow burn, the author let the characters get to know each other and it only made the relationship better. The end was full of twists and turns that had me gasping because I did NOT expect them. I'm really excited to discover what will happen in the sequel!
I would definitely recommend if you like fantasy with dragons and romance.
"Her strength became my own as I pushed myself forward."
TW: blood, death, violence, gore, sexually explicit scenes, abuse
