The Unforgetting by Rose Black

4.0

What a strange book! For the first quarter, I was very confused because I couldn't figure out whether or not it was going to lean in the supernatural direction. But once I got settled with the characters I really enjoyed it!

Bullet review:
- Dark and atmospheric
- Theme of motherhood
- Coming of age story
- Strange and oppressive
- Set in Victorian England
- Gothic undertones

Surprisingly -or not- my favorite character was not the main character... Maybe that was intentional from the author since the title is related to that character. That arc was really satisfying and moved me quite a bit. I think it featured an interesting and unsettling exploration of trauma.
TW: rape, trauma, unwanted pregnancy (how topical) ...
