This was my first verse novel and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. It was a very engaging way of getting into this character's head. Experiencing the day-to-day life of Immy is tense and mysterious. It was a bit confusing and vague at times but it did add to the unsettling feeling. The way hunger is used to represent desire is done in a very interesting way. It's hard to make a vampire story feel unique but this one surely was.

It's also a fairly easy read since it's a verse novel. It's not dense while still being medium-paced. I finished it in just 2 nights. About 1 hour and 30 minutes in total.

Now this would be a 4 star if these interesting ideas surrounding her individuality and implied multiplicity were explored more. By the end, it didn't feel like I figured anything out about the story or world. I was still invested in the characters yet the ending felt unceremonious.
also a bit confusing on whether the characters stay together or not due to its vagueness.
However there is an interview with the author in the book stating there may be more to the series. So ill be keeping my eye out for that.

Another thing that didn't fully resonate with me is the style of verse. At times some sentence splits felt unnecessary/took away from the weight of the line. I would liken it to Milk and Honey at times and if that's not your thing I don't think this will be for you.
