for me the book was oddly written. in the middle of a chapter the perspective would change to a different character. i dont have a problem with the perspective switching im just used to the perspective changing in a new chapter not in the middle of one so it threw me off a bit.
there were also points where the focus would be on 2 of the side characters. now i love me some side character moments and stories but it was only 2 out of like 5 side characters we get to personally know and it happened at weirdly placed moments.
since it was written and formatted a bit clunky i think that made it less enjoyable for me. overall it was an okay read if i didnt read the manhua first i probably would’ve dropped this book mid way or it would’ve been highly unlikely for me to consider reading the second book.
on a positive note it was a cute story i enjoyed the characters and the story touches on some serious topics like the struggles of being poor and getting older and realizing your childhood dream is most likely unattainable. there were a few other things but those were the main struggle points mentioned throughout the story. it was also nice seeing how the relationship between the mc and the ml progressed.
if you are thinking about reading this i would recommend reading the manhua instead or reading the manhua first.
