A big thank-you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for giving me a copy of this book for an unbiased review.

2/5 - It was okay.

I love reviewing children's books which have a multicultural interest and vibrant illustrations, which is why I gravitated towards this one. Unfortunately, I found it disappointing for the following reasons:

- The story had no central narrative or conflict. Without giving any spoilers away, I'll just say that nothing much really happens in this book. There is no challenge that the protagonist overcomes, no lesson learned, no exploration of the world around them.

- The illustrations, whilst vibrant on the cover and inner pages, are not as vibrant or detailed through the story

- Other than the mention of dim sum, there is no exploration of a different culture which feels shallow in its representation

I did think the illustrations were cute, so for this I give it two stars.
