Paradise by Craig Alanson

5.0

Oh, to be a member of the Merry Band of Pirates, that would be the life.

This is easily in my top three favorite books/series that I have ever listened to. The interaction/banter between Joe and Skippy, and Skippy/the rest of the crew is amazing. I truly enjoy the space opera encounters that occur in this series and love the theories that have been incorporated into the storyline (Einstein-Rosen bridges, artificial intelligence (and its limitations), space travel theory, just to name a few examples).

As we continue on the journey of the first three books, we are now introduced to multiple different points of view. This really threw me off at first and I found it difficult to follow at points, but it was a wonderful addition once I made it past the first 2-3 encounters. Having already listened to book 3.5, this really was a welcome shift, especially once we are introduced to the Jeraptha.

This continues along the story-line and if you have made it this far, keep going. It only gets better from here. With that said, these cliffhangers are killing me! Craig is both a fantastic writer and an evil genius rolled into one. Also, as if anyone expected anything less, R.C. Bray continues to deliver a performance that can only be described as epic. For those who are listening to the book, wait until you get to books 3.5 and 4. Braybacca is real and there are some specially crafted characters which will surely make you smile.
