When an acid rain Storm hits New Jersey, main character Liz hides out at the bookstore she once worked at and somehow sustains herself without leaving once in months. When mean sapphic Maeve breaks in one night, Liz leaves one single time and they're shot at, which is then not addressed for the next 30% of the book, but it's fine because look they're making out now and joking about domesticity.
There are hints of something interesting with the store being a waystation and Liz collecting stories, but there are no actual apocalyptic stakes until the very end and all of the characters are intolerable and no one experiences growth. Put this book back in the oven, it's not done yet.
