I really hope she pulls this trilogy off, because the more I read the less enthusiastic I get.  It's very cleverly plotted, an intricate chess game of a novel (and series so far), but with only two characters I care about in the slightest, and the entire story to date very obviously just a moving of pieces on the board, it's hard to keep going sometimes.

Also, I finally realized what bugs me about this style of writing--it is so incredibly unsubtle.  Nothing is implied or left to the readers comprehension, everything is explicitly stated and all characters motivations feelings and political obligations spelled out when they do any action, so it feels like the author wants to make sure you know where the plot is at all times instead of making sure you're invested in WHO the plot is happening to.

I'm writing a longer review than usual because I really wanted to enjoy this series but I just don't think I am.
