True Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop
by Annie Darling
Whilst I didn't love this book as much as the first in this series I still really enjoyed it and here's a few reason why:
>Verity reminds me of myself in a lot of ways and it's nice for the heroine to be an introvert and have these kind of issues, it's not something you come across in many books. You get shy girls who come out of their shell but this is an entirely different thing and I really appreciated and enjoyed that.
>The fake couple is a theme carried through so many romance books that it's really difficult to find a book where it isn't cliché or predictable. This story was unique as our couple didn't immediately fall in love, they didn't even fall in lust. They worked through their issues and were there for each other as friends. It was nice to see this happen rather than the cliché of falling immediately for each other once they started pretending.
And the reason it doesn't get 5 stars?
Well I didn't get the overwhelming feeling of happiness when I'd finished the book. Maybe the fact that their relationship took so long to develop left me feeling disconnected. I wasn't really able to feel their chemistry and I therefore wasn't as invested. Whilst I do love that they didn't jump straight into a relationship with one another, I do think that the revelation of love could have been brought into the story a little earlier.
Overall I did thoroughly enjoy this book although the first in the series was superior in terms of my enjoyment.
