This one was a lot heavier than anticipated based on the prequel novella. What I wasn’t expecting was absolute tragedy to strike and change the entire direction of where I thought the book would be going.

I struggled in the beginning of the book because of how unprepared I was for the book to revolve around tragedy. One of my favorite characters became someone I hated and wanted to yell at. Which on the bright side made me later begin to root for him to have his redemption arc and strong character development from him.

This book focuses heavily on grief and I feel like it’s important to tell people to approach it with that mindset. I do feel like the grief and anger about the loss of loved ones was portrayed in a beautiful and raw way. This isn’t  your typical sports romance.
