Heavy by Kiese Laymon

5.0

8.5/10 This one hits particularly close to home, especially since it sheds light to the stark contrast of being Black at Vassar College and being Black in the city of Poughkeepsie (just 14 miles from home). There is a realness to relation to Blackness and body and the multitude of ways addiction and perception can show up and harm. This book is feels authentic, eye-opening, and at times, Heavy.
