Loathing You by Amina Khan
5.0

I am soaking in the feeling of having all her attention right now, with her hands violently tugging at me. She's reaching for me, even if it's to hurt me—she's still reaching for me and I can't get enough of it.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THIS BOOK. I was reading this in wattpad and as soon as it was published i ran to purchase it. I will try to write a coherent review because i want to express my feelings for this. It's one of my favourites (if not my favorite) sapphic read. (Still can't believe that the author is only 19 and it's her first book, she is amaziiing <3)

The plot
Juliette and Adeline hate each other. They are in the same highschool since they are 12 and now at their final year nothing changed. Juliette, the school's most famous and rich girl, has been bullying Adeline since the latter first came to school and was outed as a bisexual. Adeline the only poor one in a private school full of rich kids, doesn't take anyone's shit, and with her 2 best friends returns Juliette's behavour back to her every time. So what will happen when their professor basicaly forces Adeline to tutor Juliette?

The sentence in the beginning describe their relationship perfectly. They despise each other, but at the same time can't stay away from each other. They became addicted to this game their playing and to each other. THE ANGST that this book had, THE POSSESSIVENESS. Touch her and i will ruin your life, noone can mess with her other than me, all these adorable, messed up stuff. I often find these lacking in sapphic romances, they are usually not the same as in straight and mm romances and i was really craving for a sapphic book like that (MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED).(Ok, maybe there are also other sapphic dark romances out there and i just haven't found them, i am open for recommendations :D)

Also, the smutt? OMG cheff's kiiiiss. Again, i always find the smutt very sweet and fluffyyy in sapphic books, which i am not saying i don't like, but i want to see a little rougher sex between women (again, open for book recommendations). There is not bdsm in this, bue the smutt is on the rougher part, all their hatred turned into passion which was so deliciouuus.

As much as i loved their fighting and their toxic parts, i loved their sweet and tender moments. When they turned weak for each other, opening up, pouring their past, their fears their feelings? I melted away like ice cream. I love them both so much they won me over (who am i kidding, they had me in a chockhold from the beginning)

The side characters were all so adorablee. I really don't have much to say about them, but each one of them was speciaal and has a place in my heart. Wouldn't mind for their stories as well ^^

TWs:
>homophobia - homophobic slurs
>bulllying
>violence
>mention of domestic abuse
>mention of parental neglect
>mention of alcoholism
>mention of suicide
>mention of death of loved ones

As you can see, most of the triggers i listed are just metioned, not detailed in the book, but i just wrote them in case someone is easily triggered by them. I believe the most important triggers are the homophobia, the slurs and the bullying. Although, i noticed that the slurs are a little bit toned down compared to the wattpad version (personally i am not bothered either way, but i understand how people might prefer it).

So to conclude, if you are interested in sapphics, morally grey characters, closeted gays that are homophobes and lash out on people they are attracted to, angst, possessiveness, a little bit of miscommunication (that adds to the angst), this book is for youu :D
