This was my second Patrick Ness book. It was good and an easy read with some good messages about anxiety and mental health with the main characters anxiousness and OCD though I don’t know how accurate the portrayal of OCD is. The beginning felt a bit odd with weird hints at the characters nuances, but it was all vague. The concept was interesting, focusing on being on the sidelines of something big and being involved as collateral. I didn’t hate but didn’t love the character confusion with their own feelings, but it wasn’t extreme for teenagers. The characters were well written overall along the family dynamics involved with their parents. It was a good book that didn’t hook me in any crazy way.
