A Nearly Normal Family
by Mattias Edvardsson

A Nearly Normal Family is a murder, legal thriller told in the perspective of the “nearly normal family” -- the father, the daughter, and the mother. The novel is a captivating read that burns readers with constant questions. Did Stella murder someone or was she simply in the wrong place at the wrong time? Can her family save her from a guilty verdict?
M. T. Edvardsson could easily keep the novel a simple thriller by seducing readers in a game of murder mystery, but he chooses to go beyond the constant thrill of “who did it” and dives into deeper themes of family, friendship, and life. A Nearly Normal Family pushes you to reflect on how we judge each other and how much (or little) we can control our lives. The novel asks how far you would go to save the ones you love and who you would betray in the process.
A Nearly Normal Family is a captivating read that I recommend for anyone looking for a multi-layered thriller with a substantial build-up and a “wow!” ending. With no dull moment, I powered through the novel (and *don’t tell my boss* may have taken extra-long lunch breaks to more hastily finish).
