Going Solo by Roald Dahl

adventurous dark tense medium-paced

4.0

Wonderful tale of Dahl's years, mostly as a fighter pilot in World War 2. From his journey to Africa where he set out to work until he was drafted to become a soldier, become a fighter pilot for at least a year in the Middle East and Greece and went back home to England. The beginning was fun and more like a traveling journey in Africa, but the rest is rather bleak with detailed description of being in war operations.

This book went viral for a bit last year in the early days of Israel's heavy invasion because it records the meeting of Dahl with a Jewish refugee in Haifa, Palestine.
