Accidental Witness by Sam Mariano

4.0

This book kept me reading late into the night so I'm still tired and it's all Sam's fault. (Hope you're happy, lady ;) Things starts off when Mia snuck out of her house to call a guy she was crushing on. She inadvertently witnessed a mob hit on her neighbors by a guy she goes to school with which places her on his radar. After he breaks into her house to threaten her into silence, they quickly form an attraction. Their cute little romance hits a skid when family boss Mateo finds out and drags Mia into their criminal world.

I liked Vince and empathized his trapped helplessness from being born into a mob family and having no control over his life. Mia on the other hand, made me want to smack her. Seriously everyone in the book warned her about how dangerous Mateo was and she ignored them all, claiming to know better with her 'everyone has goodness in them' bullshit. Well she definitely learned after Mateo released the full depth of his crazy on her. Mia was so dumb. I saw the scene with the cops coming a mile away. I don't know if it was the author's intention but Mateo really stole the show. His evil mastermind puppeteering of both Vince and Mia was a thing to behold. He's the villain you love to hate but also hate to love. Can't wait to read more about him. I have the feeling he's not through with Mia yet.
