This was so much fun. The illustrations are detailed and the actual verbiage made me giggle. My favorite form of escapism lately is nostalgic middle grade books, but this one proved to be a contemporary romp. If you are reading with a child, or if the child is embarking on a solo read, definitely continue onto the larger prose at the end. It utilizes accessible/silly language to explain the origins of the poem with a brief foray into the etymology of Old English and a formulaic break down regarding poetic devices.
