The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio

4.0

Don't know how I missed this ribald classic all these years - an amazing and amusing collection of 100 stories, well told by the ten people who have gathered in a country villa outside Florence to escape the Black Death. Some similarities to the Canterbury Tales, but more mischievous. Deservedly still read eight hundred years later.

An aside to my Goodreads friends: I sure would love some of you to start sharing your great reads again - I know I have more time than most of you to read, and to share my reading, but I miss hearing from you about the books I need to add to my ridiculously long list, or the ones I can delete from it. And those of you who are mostly "retired" - you know who you are - you have no excuses!
