The Monkey Wrench Gang by Edward Abbey

2.0

Please don't waste your time reading this--the only reason I did was because it was for class. Abbey should never have set foot in fiction territory, because I've never seen such a large cast of two-dimensional characters, meaningless subplots, and dubious deus ex machina, not to mention very frequent, very casual, and very uncomfortable misogyny, racism, and toxic masculinity. He really should've just ended his literary career with "Desert Solitaire." I'm not sure I'll ever understand why this is considered a classic of American literature.
