Sometime in Summer was a truly enchanting book! It’s been a while since I last read a book with a young protagonist ~ Anna is only 14, so reading about her was really refreshing! The storyline had a bookish theme that I absolutely adored! I loved the literary references, and the conversations surrounding books a lottttt. Mirium had a very Lorelai Gilmore vibe, and the mother-daughter relationship between Mirium and Anna reminded me of The Gilmore Girls countless times. Anna’s sass and sarcastic comments made me laugh my heart out 😂✨
The family dynamic in Sometime in Summer was really well-written too. The author expressed Anna’s feelings about her parents' divorce heartbreakingly. I wanted to give her so many hugs along the way. And as this is a Katrina Leno book, there was a magical realism plot (DUH) that I fell head over heels for. :’)
If you’re looking for a heartfelt read, I highly recommend picking Sometime in Summer!
