When I originally read this series I only made it about a hundred pages into this book and stopped. Now, I can easily see why. This is so far the weakest book in the series, mainly because it sets Rose off on her own. I like Rose. If I didn't I wouldn't read this series. But the real heart of these novels is the relationships Rose has with the other characters. Rose needs to be more than just inside Lissa's head. This might have been better if Lissa had actually gone with Rose, but then the second half of the book (which is by far better) wouldn't have happened. The second half, with Rose and Dimitri was great, which is why I'm giving it four stars. I'm happy that I went back to reread this series, and finally finish it!
