The Vanishing Half
by Brit Bennett
Easy 5 stars. A beautiful book. Brit Bennett is a true artist - she created a set of such vivid characters, they seemed real enough to jump off the page. I do wish I could understand Stella better (the white-passing twin); no matter how she was described or her internal monologue, I just don't like her and can't understand the decisions she made. On the one hand, if you can pass for white in a racist world, why not make your life easier? But I still don't understand her thought process when it comes to her twin and mother. Even so, I can't wait to read The Mothers and Butterball. I can imagine this is another author I will buy anything from as long as it has her name on it.
