Where do I begin!?
Jade Lasky is living her best life -- she's a mom who gets to spend time with the kids, she's married to a successful chef with a series of chain restaurants that are doing well, and everything is perfect, including her marriage. But suddenly a masked invader has forced her and her two children into her home and is demanding a ridiculously specific ransom. Can her husband, Cam, even get this type of money in time -- all without involving the police or any other authorities?
Okay, so, you know the setup: either this is a random home invader that gets lucky OR this is someone with a grudge. Always go for the second one. Always. That is what made the book interesting for me: trying to figure out who the invader was, how did he know the family, what is the main goal here? And while I'm the type of person that says you cannot commit a crime to make a valid point about how this said family/certain family member(s) screwed you over... it makes for a compelling read!
