This book is exactly what I want and expect when I pick up a Lorraine Heath novel. It was full of plot twists, everyone is keeping secrets and we go on a character development ride.

Over the course of the previous two books in the Hellions of Havisham, we have gotten to see how much the Hellions love the Marquess of Marsden and how much his son specifically cares for him. Now it is Locke's turn for a story and I am so glad we got to see a lot of his father.

Locke is terrified of loving someone because he saw what losing that love did to his father. Portia is scared of being alone and needs the security a title can offer her. The Marquess of Marsden is there to push them together.

These two are absolute fire on page. I really enjoyed this book, but it was the ending that pushed it into 5 star territory. The end had me absolutely wrecked and it hurt even worse after reading When the Marquess Falls.

Originally I rated this book 4 stars, but after sitting with it for a week I have upgraded it to 5 because I cannot stop thinking about this story and this series as a whole.
