A Pho Love Story by Loan Le

3.0

In short: retelling of Romeo & Julia with a happy ending and Vietnamese food and culture. Set in the USA.

I like the Vietnamese representation. Although I do not know how accurate it is. However, as someone from immigrant family, I related a lot to most parts in this story.

There are Vietnamese phrases and terms being used. Which I really like. But it sounded so unnatural, computervoice like, in the audiobook and that kept me from fully enjoying it.

Topics: immigrants (the struggles, the hope for a better future for their next of kin, etc), restaurant rivalry, friendship and love, careers - letting someone follow their dreams and enter a risky job
