A tough read at times, but enjoyable and one I'd recommend. The thing I valued most about it is the way it challenged my prejudices around "redneck" country hicks. When we're encouraged to fight amongst ourselves, inevitably it's those in power we need to be looking at instead. The greedy mine owners ravaging the landscape and drug companies benefitting from addiction. The book was thought provoking and will stay with me.
I did find it a touch long and honestly the love interest and football bits weren't for me, but I get that they were narratively important.
