Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie

All Children Grow Up, Except One

I chose to open with this quote as this book makes me feel like a child again.

The title doesn't suggest anything but if you know, you know, but who doesn't. This book is about the only child who doesn't gtown up.

I say this about a lot of books, I know, but this is hands down may favourite book of all time. I grew up on the movies, not the book and I can proudly say that I can recite every version of the story word for word.

The title character, Peter, is the child who doesn't grow up as he lives in a magical realm called Neverland where you can never grow old. He and his Lost Boys battle Captain Hook and his crew in hopes of finally defeating him.

There are many, many, many different adapted versions of Peter Pan, whether it be the 1953 Disney version, the 2003 live action version with Jeremy Sumpter and Jason Issacs or even Once Upon a Time where Pan is blatantly portrayed as the villain and Hook the hero - which I am living for. In the book, I can't name a favourite character because Barrie describes them all so beautifully.

Something that I would change if I had the chance to is Hook not dying as it would then have allowed for a lot more opportunity, one of which I may have up my sleeve, but if Hook hadn't died, the story would never have been resolved.

Of course I would recommend this book, to anyone out there. It is such as magical story to take you back to your childhood, whether you like Peter Pan or nor, but who doesn't?
