Just Like Heaven by Trilina Pucci

fast-paced

5.0

This is a Romeo and Juliette retelling where Calder is a son of an Irish mobster who falls deeply in love with Sutton, the Senator’s daughter. Sutton has caught the eye of the all-American boy in the school, Hunter, who she has decided is going to take her virginity. Everything is set until one day while hanging out at the park with her friends she meets Calder. Calder is from the wrong side of town, older, covered in tattoos, a criminal, and everything Sutton has been told to stay away from her whole life. There’s just one problem, Sutton and Calder have a pull that keeps making them seek each other out no matter how hard or wrong it might be. I absolutely loved this book and enjoyed the characters so much. For how innocent Sutton is, Trilian does an amazing job at developing her character into a great heroine. Calder is the ultimate bad boy who treats his girl with respect and loyalty. The ending does leave you a huge cliffhanger and has you guessing on what truly happened. I could not put this book down and knew I would be finishing the 2nd book as quickly as possible. This is a mafia romance where the MMC is an alpha male with the attitude of touch her and you die.
