The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf

This one actually really freaked me out. Maybe it was remembering the feeling of a quiet country road, no one around. Maybe it's knowing how wind through a cornfield can sound like someone creeping up behind you. The Iowa details felt real, and the story felt personal. It unveiled its secrets slowly, and I nearly gasped at the revelation at the end. Great red herrings and a gripping story. I'll definitely be looking to add more of Gudenkauf's books to my TBR.
