Into the Wilderness
by Sara Donati
This book was alright - a solid 3 stars. Not spectacular and not awful. It feels like an attempt to capture the magic of Outlander in a similar but also very different book.
Elizabeth and Nathaniel just aren't Jamie and Claire. While it isn't fair to expect them to be it would be nice if they had some chemistry as a couple. But they just felt flat to me. As individuals they we're alright but still not super compelling.
The writing is good, the setting well explored, and the secondary characters very well developed. For me though, this book is just missing that spark that brings a medicore book up to pretty dang good levels.
I might pick up the next one but I'm in no rush to do so.
