Elevator Pitch by Linwood Barclay

5.0

i really enjoyed this book. i think my high rating is partially given my dislike of the last book i read, but this one hit the spot. i’ve been a linwood barklay fan for a while, and i love that you can trust that you will know everything that adds up to the answer when it is revealed, and elevator pitch lives up to that. i feel like i read it in the way envisioned, where i fell for the fakeout and was suitably surprised by the end reveal.

i didn’t love all of the characters, no, but i cared about them, and that’s what counts. the first few barclay books i read were all single person narration, and while i didn’t like the first book i read that deviated from that formula, this was far better. i could have used more of the detectives, who i felt we’re sort of the heart of the story, at least from my perspective - i’m sure the whole family affair was meant to be, but i loved borque and delgado.
