The Colossus: And Other Poems by Sylvia Plath

3.0

While I did enjoy this poetry collection, I do prefer Plath's prose to her poetry. The poems were sometimes a bit too adrift in abstraction for my taste although I did readily enjoy Colossus, A Winter Ship, and The Stones.

"Love is the bone and sinew of my curse / The vase, reconstructed, houses / The elusive rose. // Ten fingers shape a bowl for shadows. / My mendings itch. There is nothing to do. / I shall be as good as new."
